I'd never thought of blogging as self-publishing, but I can see your point about getting an editor for your blog. Not a bad idea. Thank you for suggesting it, and for reading my post. :) Hi Randy. How about taking it to the next level: blogs = self publishing. If you're serious about your blogging, you should use an editor for your blog, too. I do, and it's made a big difference in my quality. I think my readers appreciate it. Your editor can become an important part of your team, a real partner. Excellent post.

I've read (actually, I felt compelled to read) a few self-published books because the authors nearly begged me. All needed a good editor to go through them prior to being published. It now makes me cringe at the thought of reading another self-published book--I feel as if I'm witnessing a stereotype in the making: self-published books are books that couldn't pass muster with the "real" publishing world. I'm sure it's not true, but is hard to find a work that doesn't fit the pattern. And that can only be bad for the good books that end up being self published.
