The 500 Club (7/29)
Helloooooo Thursday! 500 Club time, let’s do it to it! Please allow me to set down this Red Bull and tell you the rules.
1. Write 500 words based on one of the two prompts below. (Or get crazy and incorporate both)
2. Post it to your blog.
3. Copy the opening lines in the comments below with a link to the full text.
If you don’t have your own blog or website, you can still play. In the sidebar on the right you’ll find a text box where you can paste your 500 words and submit it straight to us.
Here are the prompts, and remember, The 500 Club is just a little something to keep your chops hot. So don’t worry if it’s not perfect. Just have fun.
1. Write from the point of view of an unreliable narrator. After all, the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.
2. Riffing on Dex’s excellent music prompt last week, write a story around a song you really love. The catch? It has to be a guilty pleasure song, the sort of cheese that would have your friends guffawing if they saw it on your iPod. Winger. Girls Aloud. The Wiggles. You know what I’m talking about. Now get to it!
