500 Club (1.17.13)
It is freezing here in the desert. Quite literally in fact. For the last three days, the temps have dropped below freezing every morning. To those of you in a different climate, you might be shaking your head at me rather unsympathetically. Well, when you’re used to temps in the one-twenties, even a single day below freezing is a hardship. Do you know how many times I’ve miss-keyed this post due to frigid fingers? The backspace might not recover.
So to help keep my mind off the cold, let’s escape into 500 words based on one of today’s prompts.
Just a few rules:
- Write 500 words based on one of the two prompts below.
- Post it to your blog.
- Give us a small taste in the comments below along with a link to the full text.
On to the prompts.
1. Finish This Opening: Waking up to find it snowing usually garners pleasant feelings. But when you’re outdoors, and unsure on how you got there…
2. Writing Challenge: In 500 words, make me cold. The trick here will be to convey that feeling without stating it’s cold. Use your wordsmithery to get around it.
*Oh, and as always, feel free to change character names and genders as you see fit. After all, it’s your story.
