500 Club (9.5.13)

Hello Thursday!

I guess Summer is technically over. School is back in session. The biggest barbecue weekend has come and gone. All the white shoe have been shelved. I just wish the weather here in the desert got the “Summertime’s Over” message. One thing to do to take my mind off the relentless heat is to tackle some writing prompts.

Here’s how:

  1. Write 500 words based on one of the two prompts below.
  2. Post it to your blog.
  3. Give us a small taste in the comments below along with a link to the full text.

On to the prompts.

1. Finish This Opener: Looking from the sealed case on the passenger seat to the rear view mirror now filled with glowing lights, Vince knew this was going to end badly.

2. Subtext: Try writing 500 words where the main story is not the one directly happening. Say character A and B are doing something nefarious to character C on the page, but the real juicy stuff is what’s going on between A and B. Very tricky stuff.

As always, throw out the obvious. Embrace your creativity and try something new. And above all, have fun with it.
