Hear Me Roar

I was going to title this post, “Big Girl Pants”. But I decided that would invite too many jokes. (If you simply can’t resist, go ahead and leave your joke in the comments. *Maybe* I’ll approve it.)

But that’s what this post is about. Me and my big girl pants.

See, not too long ago I read this post by Chuck Wendig of Terribleminds fame.

I read that post and understood what my resolution had to be:

Finish what I start.

Thusly resolved, I’ve accomplished more in the last three days than I have in the last three months. And not just writing. Other projects that I’ve let slide because shinier things came along. I’m a busy bee. I’m a whirling tornado. I’m an unstoppable mass of ideas and energy all bundled up in big girl trousers. Hear me roar.

I will finish my rewrite of my WiP and get the blasted, beautiful, ugly baby out the door.

No whining or pining or giving into my tortured artist tendencies. Just me getting things done. Just me finishing what I’ve started.

Now, I know myself well. And I know if I keep up this pace I’ll run out of steam. So I have to remember to sleep, eat well, exercise and do those things that keep me balanced. Like lightsaber duels with my kids and making artful loveliness out of clay and paint and canvas and whatnot. I believe there is time enough.

So everyday I will sit my butt in that chair and I will finish what I start. Because I don’t want to come to the end of my life, and not have given my all to making these dreams a reality.
