500 Club (6/17)

Another Thursday, another 500 Club. The rules remain the same.

1. Write 500 words based on one of the two prompts.
2. Post it to your blog.
3. Copy the first couple of lines in the comments below with a link to the full text.

But, wait! There’s more!

If you don’t have your own blog or website, and you’re just dying to play along, now you can. In the sidebar on the right you’ll find a text box where you can paste your 500 words and submit it straight to us. So go for it!

PROMPT ONE: Turn cliche on it’s ear and do the genre mash. Drop a fairy princess into a high-tech battlefield. Sprinkle some vampires into a hardboiled noir. Unleash the alien invasion on your bodice-ripping romancers. You get the idea. Go nuts.

PROMPT TWO: Take a supporting character from your current (or most recent) short story or novel and let them have the mic for a change.

Now let’s see some flash!

About Amy McLane

As Amy Beth Forbes, her work has appeared in divers locations, such as Flytrap, Kiss Machine, Realms of Fantasy, and LCRW. She is currently slaving away at a multi-book epic fantasy, and often forgets to post at personal blog smolderingink.com. Elusive and quixotic, she likes pie, but wouldn’t say no to cake.

  2. dex says:

I tapped my pack of Lucky Strikes against the corner of the desk. I needed a drink, a stiff drink, but Frankie was still making like he had gone clean for good and the stash I normally kept in my desk was gone. The smokes would have to be enough.
