Sharing Good Fortunes

It’s Blogger’s Choice this week, and it’s also the week before I move. My side of the office is bare but for boxes, my desk empty but for a few pens, paper clips, and fortune cookie strips. Why do I have those out still, when everything else I own is packed away?

Because they inspire me, even in times of controlled catastrophe. So, let me share them with you. Maybe you will want to try to apply them to your writing life, as I try.

Failure is the mother of success.

Be tactful; overlook not your own opportunity.

A focused mind is one of the most powerful forces in the universe.

Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.

They’re mine, but I want you to take them, take them all and run with them, right to your current work-in-progress. Listen to what they’re telling you, and believe.

It’s funny how a little massed-produced strip of stamped paper can hold such magic.

PS If you’ve got any fortunes you keep in a drawer or your wallet, please share them in the comments! I know I’m not the only one who saves them.

I kept one. And it’s framed, that might be a little sad, but it’s a nice reminder. I decided to start writing again and around that same time I was eating some Chinese food, I opened my fortune cookie and read “Your hidden creative talents will soon be revealed”. It brings a smile to my face when I read it.
