3 Things…I’m Geeked About This Year

Here we are, 2011 well under way.

This week we’re talking about the things we’re anticipating this year. Amy McLane got us off to a great start on Monday (A Game of Thrones!), and S.C. Green will be here Friday to fanboy all over his choices. I’ve been trying to boil down the three things I’m anticipating this year. It’s a difficult task. Perhaps I’m just easily excitable (my friends are nodding their heads, remembering some of my kookier moments).

OK, here they are. Three things I’m anticipating this year.

1. Phoenix Comicon

Last year was my first visit to the Phoenix Comicon. This year I’ve been drafted into the ranks, assisting the amazing Lee Whiteside with SF/Fantasy programming.

Can you believe the lineup they’ve got this year?! Adam Baldwin. Cherie Priest. Max Brooks. See why I’m excited? Hope to see you there.

2. I’ll have an app for that

Lately when not writing, I’ve been learning app development. Yes, I’m serious. Back before I took up writing and domestic engineering as my career, I worked as a graphic and web designer. I still happily wear those hats from time to time. I love working with graphics and code. So I’m taking it to the next level. The mobile level. And so far so good. My goal is to meld my love of story and writing with my love of technology. I’ve got a gazillion ideas that I’m totally geeked about and can’t wait to share with you.

3. Queryland

Lately when not programming, I’ve been working on my WiP, getting it ready to send off into Queryland.

Ah, Queryland, where everything is rainbows and unicorns and fluffy pink clouds and lollipops.

OK, so maybe sending out query letters to agents isn’t all bubble gum and unicorns, but still, I’m excited about taking this step in my journey. And also nervous. I probably won’t post much about it on here or on my own blog, but it’s something on the horizon that I’m very much looking forward to. Let’s just say I hope my stay there is brief, but memorable. *wink*

3a. The Parking Lot Confessional

And finally, if I can cheat a little and add a 3A, well, I’m excited about what we have planned around The Parking Lot Confessional. We have so many awesome guest authors lined up. We have fun plans for the 500 Club. We have more collaborative writing we’ll be publishing. All good.

Let’s hear it for 2011. Squee!

I’m excited about 3A, also! Hey, can you translate, please: what is WiP? And what is Queryland? Thanks for your post. Enthusiasm is infectious, and I feel yours. Feels good.

    • Hey BlueSky! Thanks for being excited about 3a, too. :) That rocks.

I’m sorry things weren’t clear in my post. I’ll go edit it for clarity. Oops!

WiP is an acronym for Work in Progress, or the writing project you’re currently working on.

Queryland is my cheeky (and not so successful) way of saying I’m going to be sending out query letters to agents soon in hopes of getting representation for my novel. :)
